Mid-September Introduction

The Center for Continuing Studies (CCS) at Mercer County Community College offers a is now offering an Introduction to Neuro-linguistic Programming class starting mid-September 2021.

The class will be led by Ed Andriessen with assistance from Mary Demetria Davis.

Curriculum

This is a 12 hour introductory class conducted on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 at the Conference Center at Mercer.

This course focuses on the foundation skills of NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming).  NLP is a popular self development methodology that studies behavioral patterns created by language. 

Each session will explore the specific tools and processes for improved communication and personal transformation using techniques from the field of Neuro-linguistic Programming.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Increase observations to notice more unconscious communication.
  • Clarify communication strengths and developmental needs
  • Create resourceful states and resolve emotional challenges more quickly.
  • Clarify real goals and create a workable path to goal attainment.
  • Discover new ways to positively handle situations and experiences that were frustrating.

Session 1 (3 hours):

  • Introduction
  • History of NLP
  • As if Frame
  • Presuppositions
Session 3 (3 hours):

  • Stuck-Meta-Resource
  • What is a stuck state
  • Neutral and Observer Position
  • Resource states and elicitation

Session 2 (3 hours):

  • How words influence thoughts
  • Problem-Frame/Outcome Frame
  • Outcome orientations
  • Sensory vs. Non Sensory communication

Session 4 (3 hours):

  • Primary Representational Systems
  • Predicates
  • Matching & Mismatching
  • Model of the World
